This website for the Health and Human Services provides information about HIPAA Privacy Rules for consumers, physicians and covered entities. The website has resources that will keep you informed regarding HIPAA compliance for you and your practice.

Everything you ever wanted to know about the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services can be found on this website. There are sections on regulations, preparedness for natural disasters, news releases regarding health care and health insurance, and much more.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is an agency that is part of U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. CMS is responsible for the administration of Medicare, Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), HIPAA and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). This is an informative website for physicians and their patients.

Physicians are well acquainted with the Medical Board of California (MBC). However, this section of the MBC’s website inadvertently provides useful information for California physicians, even though it is a “Physician License Lookup” intended for consumers. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Continue Search” button to look up public information about California physicians.

This is the website of the California Medical Association (CMA). The website has a wealth of information relevant to California physicians, including a section on legislation important to healthcare and physicians. Another section has a comprehensive listing of specialty societies and a section on professional resources.

Physicians Reimbursement Fund has a large percentage of obstetricians and gynecologists. This is the website for the national American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). ACOG members can login to the “entire site” which includes the public and members only Web pages. ACOG has many outstanding publications that set the standard for the practice of obstetrics and gynecology. Many of these publications are available electronically (PDF files) to ACOG members.

This is the website for American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, District IX (ACOG, California). Members of ACOG can access all the information on the national ACOG website, plus information relevant to California obstetricians and gynecologists.

This is the website for the American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP). There are both public and members only sections to the website. This is a great website for pediatricians to give parents of small children. The website provides many useful links relating to childhood diseases and disorders. AAP is another great resource for practice guidelines and has access to Continuing Medical Education (CME) classes for pediatricians.

This is the website of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). Members can find information about meetings and scientific sessions, advocacy and legislation relevant to oral surgeons and their patients, patient pamphlets, continuing education and more. Interested consumers and oral surgeons can download a PDF file of the AAMOS catalog of products.

This website for the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) has news for consumers, physicians and professional organizations. The ABMS is responsible for the certification of physician specialties in the United States. The organization is focused on maintaining and improving quality medical care and develops professional and educational standards.

Californians Allied for Patient Protection (CAPP) is an organization of physicians, dentists, hospitals, nurses, professional liability carriers and other healthcare professionals that was formed in 1991 for the sole purpose of protecting patients’ access to care by maintaining the Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act of 1975 (MICRA).
